AVT VR System

If you or a loved one suffer from vestibular dysfunction, which is a leading cause of dizziness, vertigo and imbalance, we’re here to offer our expertise in diagnosis and treatment, regardless of where you live. We are now able to provide our patients with home-based treatment for their dizziness, vertigo and imbalance. This new treatment method is ideal for patients who live remotely from our Institute, making in-office appointments difficult, or for those who want to conveniently supplement their in-office treatment plans.

Our newly-developed treatment method is an extension of our proprietary, trademarked Advanced Vestibular Treatment™ (AVT). AVT is a “top-down” approach to diagnosing and treating dizziness, vertigo and balance disorders, which starts with the vestibular system where a large portion of these disorders originate. Directed by Doctors of Audiology, AVT incorporates physical exercises with optokinetic stimulation to both desensitize visual motion disturbance and help restore balance function by utilizing integration techniques between the vestibular, visual and somatosensory inputs. AVT can be more efficient and effective than traditional “bottom-up” therapies, such as Vestibular Rehabilitation Therapy (VRT).

This technologically-advanced, patent pending virtual reality (VR) System for the Treatment of Vestibular Dysfunction provides home-based treatment for patients with dizziness, vertigo and imbalance. Our doctors of audiology have been researching and developing this new home-based VR treatment system for several years and we are now thrilled to offer it to our existing patients, as well as new patients from out of the area.

To begin home-based treatment, patients first undergo a comprehensive diagnostic evaluation and if a vestibular dysfunction is diagnosed, a recommendation for treatment is prescribed by one of the Institute’s Doctors of Audiology. Patients then enter their chosen treatment plan with accompanying Concierge Care. Patients will be overseen by their Doctor of Audiology and will have regular appointments to evaluate progress. The AVT System is used in conjunction with the VR Goggle System, which is available for purchase or lease.

The AVT/VR System consists of several key components: self-contained VR Goggle System, AVT patient portal and corresponding mobile phone application with customized visual treatment stimuli. The new system allows a Doctor of Audiology to adjust treatment prescriptions remotely. Home-based treatment includes regular phone and online appointments with an assigned Doctor of Audiology and a dedicated Concierge Care support program. Various contract options are available for patients to choose from, including two starter plans and three maintenance plan options.

The established protocols and treatment delivery system are an effective option to treat vestibular related balance issues to help restore patients to the activity levels they had prior to the onset of their symptoms. We are thrilled to be able to offer this method of treatment to our patients. We will continue to find new ways to help people struggling with dizzy symptoms to give them newfound hope for lasting relief.
