Provides Audiological Evaluations for Long Beach VA Hospital’s Overflow Patients
January 11, 2010 (Newport Beach, CA) – Newport-Mesa Audiology, Balance and Ear Institute (the Institute) announced today it has been contracted to provide audiological evaluations to overflow patients from the VA Long Beach Health System, which is at capacity for these services. The Institute is providing these audiological evaluations at a significantly discounted rate from its Newport Beach and Ladera Ranch locations as a gesture of compassion and respect for Southern California’s veterans.
According to the Institute, its doctors of audiology are conducting ear examinations and performing diagnostic audiological evaluations, such as video otoscopy, tympanometry, acoustic reflexes, air conduction, bone conduction, and speech recognition thresholds. The Institute is providing the VA Long Beach Health System with a comparative diagnostic baseline of service men and women who are returning from Iraq and Afghanistan, primarily. So far, the Institute has seen nearly 20 patients at its Newport Beach and Ladera Ranch locations.
“We have a lot of compassion and respect for our veterans and want to make sure they are seen in a timely fashion,” said Dr. Brooke Pearce, director of audiology at Newport-Mesa Audiology, Balance and Ear Institute. “As part of this community, we are proud to be a resource for the Long Beach VA hospital and provide the best possible care for these patients.”
