Hearing Loss

Hearing loss is a physiological, psychological, or anatomical abnormality affecting the ability to accurately receive, interpret, or process sound waves. It is an underdiagnosed epidemic in the United States.

Hearing loss is the third most prevalent chronic condition in older Americans. About 34 million people in the US have some reduced hearing sensitivity. Over 1 million children have a hearing loss and 5% of this are children under 18 years of age.

Early recognition and treatment of auditory deficits will increase cognitive and social development, leading to improved quality of life.
